Labour Negotiations at the
University of St. Michael's College
The University of St Michael's College (USMC) and members of UTFA (trade union) have been unable to reach a collective agreement and the parties will be in a strike/lockout position on February 6, 2015. USMC is an independently-constituted institution in an academic federation with the University of Toronto (U of T) and conducts its own labor negotiations. The Union represents 17 USMC employees, seven of whom are Faculty in the Faculty of Theology, seven Librarians, and three Senior Lecturers. If strike/lockout action is undertaken we expect that there will be minimal impact on U of T, the USMC programs and John M. Kelly Library. We will monitor the situation on a day-by-day basis.
Classes held on St Michael's premises will be expected to continue normally and students should plan to continue to attend their courses. All USMC employees are expected to continue to fulfill their responsibilities. Further updates will be made on the USMC website.
