Borrowing Library Materials

Anyone with a valid University of Toronto library card can borrow circulating materials.

People without a University of Toronto library card can purchase a St. Michael’s Library Extramural Reader's card ($40.00 per year; $30.00 per year for SMC alumni).

Kelly InfoExpress for Graduate Students

Graduate Students in the Faculty of Theology, Department of French, German, Italian, Slavic, and DMin students in the Toronto School of Theology can request a PDF copy of any journal article or book chapter available in U of T libraries. Requests are usually filled within four business days.

Study Space

The Kelly Library includes collaborative group and private, silent study space. Food and drink are allowed in all areas of the Library except the Special Collections Reading Room.

    The Roy & Ann Foss Research Commons on the ground floor of the Library has 43 workstations (including four workstations with flatbed scanners). View the ground floor map.

    Computers are reserved for use by current faculty, staff and students who have a UTORid. On each floor of the library there are two workstations reserved for use of the online catalogue. Scholars from other institutions needing access to University of Toronto Library electronic resources should consult with library staff.


    Wireless access is available in most areas of the Library. A UTORid is required to connect to the university network. Print jobs can also be sent from a laptop to the printers in the Library (more information). If you have any questions, please contact Richard Carter.


    Send print jobs from any computer workstation in the Library to one of several printers: black-and-white printers found on the ground and second floors

    Print jobs default to double-sided printing. All printing is $0.15 per page.

    a colour printer ($0.75 per page for 8 1/2 x 11 and 11 x 14; $1.50 for 11 x 17).

    Release and pay for print jobs at the black-and-white printers and then retrieve the print job at the Circulation Desk.

    Payment for print jobs is by T-card. Patrons without a T-card can purchase a copycard at the Circulation Desk.

    There is a cash-to-card machine for placing money on T-cards on the ground floor of the Library.


    On the ground floor of the Library there are two self-service photocopiers ($0.10 per copy). Payment for print jobs is by T-card. Patrons without a T-card can purchase a copycard at the Circulation Desk.


    The Library has 24 coat lockers which can be used for the day. Twelves are on the ground floor of the Library at the bottom of the east stairwell; twelve more are on the 3rd floor along the west hallway. Keys for these lockers can be signed out at the Circulation Desk each day.
