Prof. Anne Anderson, C.S.J., appointed Interim President of the University of St Michael’s

Professor Anderson was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Theology at St. Michael's in 2001 and reappointed in 2006. She will remain Dean during her tenure as Interim President. A member of the General Council of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, Professor Anderson is President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph's Health System in Hamilton. Previously she was President of the Catholic Health Association of Ontario. She is currently Chair of the Pastoral Theology Department in the Toronto School of Theology, and Vice-Chair of the Commission on Accrediting for the Association of Theological Schools in Canada and the United States.

The Search Committee struck to recommend a successor to the current President of St Michael's, Dr. Richard Alway, was unable to make a recommendation. A new Search Committee will be struck in due course.

TORONTO, February 18, 2008 -- Mr. W.F. (Frank) Morneau, Chair of the Collegium of the University of St Michael’s, announced today that Professor Anne Anderson, C.S.J., has been appointed Interim President of the University for a maximum term of 18 months, effective July 1, 2008.
