Opani Mudalige, St Mike's student, Stephen Fish, Facilities Management, Duane Rendle, Dean of Students and the Residence Council awarded UofTs Environmental Challenge Award.
TORONTO, April 1, 2009 -- Thanks to all of you who participated in the Environmental Challenge in the planning stages as well as in the actual implementation phases. The ideas you contributed, your participation in meetings, response to email requests and facilitation of your student teams contributed to a successful campaign.
On behalf of Hart House, I am pleased to announce that the winners of the Environmental Challenge 2009 is St Michael’s! We were greatly impressed by the efforts of Opani Mudalige who represented her College single handedly at first, but was able to network with and garner the support of the Facilities Management, Dean's Office, Hospitality Services and the Residence Council at St Michael’s to pull off a well coordinated effort. We are pleased to know that the activities associated with the Enviromental Challenge have fueled the formation of a more coordinated approach to environmental issues at St Mike's. Congratulations!
I would like to make special mention of the teams at 89 Chestnut, Innis College, and Trinity College, who also put together great campaigns to encourage their fellow residents to lower their carbon footprint. The rewards of your efforts are intangible and no less meaningful. Thank you!
