SMCs Christianity and Culture Students Share Intercordia Experience

TORONTO, October 8, 2009 -- On 28-30 September 2009, four current and former St Michael’s students traveled to the University of Georgia for the 10th Annual Outreach Scholarship Conference. They presented a poster session entitled, "High Intensity Dissonance and International Service Learning: The Intercordia Experience". The presentation was focused on these students' participation in the international service-learning program "Intercordia" (SMC362Y), which St Michael’s has been offering in the Christianity and Culture program, in partnership with the NGO Intercordia Canada, since 2007. The poster was very well-received, and the students returned with a renewed sense of the importance service-learning programs like "Intercordia," as well as other civic engagement and outreach initiatives at public universities throughout North America.
