Abstracts
The Society for the History of Authorship, Reading, and Publishing conference took place at St Michael's College, University of Toronto, 23-27 June 2009. The conference theme, Tradition & InnovatioN, provided an opportunity to explore developments in the field of Book History.
Professor Natalie Zemon Davis (Princeton and the University of Toronto) and Professor Dominique Kalifa (Paris 1) delivered plenary addresses. There was a plenary panel, 'Getting into Print: Canadian Perspectives', sponsored by the Bibliographical Society of Canada/La Société bibliographique du Canada, which explored the publishing scene in Canada, both historical and current, from the perspectives of author, agent, anglophone and francophone publisher, and bookseller.
The Bibliographical Society of Canada/La Société bibliographique du Canada also sponsored a series of workshops which took place on Tuesday morning and afternoon, prior to the opening session.

Le colloque de la Society for the History of Authorship, Reading and Publishing a eu lieu au Collège Saint-Michel, Université de Toronto, du 23 au 27 juin 2009. Le thème de la rencontre, Tradition & InnovatioN, a permis d'explorer les développements récents en histoire du livre.
La professeure Natalie Zemon Davis (Princeton et Université de Toronto) et le professeur Dominique Kalifa (Paris I) ont prononcé les conférences plénières. La Société bibliographique du Canada a proposé un panel sur le thème: «Passer à l'imprimé: perspectives canadiennes». Ce panel a discuté du monde de l'édition au Canada, tant sur le plan historique que contemporain, selon les perspectives d'un auteur, d'un agent littéraire, d'un éditeur francophone et d'un éditeur anglophone et d'un libraire.
La Société bibliographique du Canada a aussi proposé aussi une série d'ateliers, qui ont eu lieu mardi matin et mardi après-midi, avant la séance d'ouverture.
