Being in the World: A Quotable Maritain Reader

Fr. D'Souza wins Catholic Press Book Award

We are pleased to announce that Faculty member Father Mario D’Souza, CSB, has won a 2015 Catholic Press Book Award from the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada. His work, Being in the World: A Quotable Maritain Reader, won first place in the reference category. “This collection of the writings of Jacques Maritain, one of the outstanding philosopher/ theologians of the mid-20th century, provides a readable and ‘quotable’ resource for contemporary students, scholars, and theologians,” the judges noted. “D’Souza re-read 55 of Jacques Maritain’s works, took over 1,700 pages of notes, and organized them into a quotable corpus of 40 topics from ‘Aristotle’ to ‘Wisdom.’ The result is what well may be a classic study.” Being in the World was published in 2014 by the University of Notre Dame Press. Congratulations, Fr. Mario!
