Description:

On Thursday, July 12, the Sheptytsky Institute cordially invites you to attend a lecture by Fr. Damaskinos entitled "Mount Athos and Orthodox Spirituality: History and Legacy Today." The evening will begin with 6 p.m. Vespers at St. Sophia Chapel (Elmsley Hall, 81 St. Mary Street), followed by the lecture at 7 p.m. in Windle House (5 Elmsley Place). After the lecture there will be an opportunity for discussion and refreshments will be served.

Fr. Damaskinos is a member of the Department of Theology of the University of Eastern Finland and a monk of the Holy Monastery of Saint Xenophon on Mount Athos. His research interests include both musicology, especially the adaptation of Byzantine chant into Finnish, and patristics, especially the liturgical literature of the Middle Byzantine period.
