Assistant Professor in Practical Theology and Ministry Formation

The Faculty of Theology of the University of St. Michael’s College invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment Assistant Professor of Practical Theology and Ministry Formation to begin 1 July 2019.  Applicants will have both a publication record and teaching experience in practical theology. The ability to teach in a secondary area—such as liturgy or systematics—would also be welcome. The successful candidate will serve as Director of Field Education and Director of Pastoral Formation; teach the courses, “Theology of Ministry” and “Theological Reflection Seminar” (a summative course that follows the field placement); contribute in particular to the MDiv program and more generally to the MTS, and MRE programs; and, if qualified, teach and supervise graduate students through the Graduate Centre of the Toronto School of Theology.

Applicants must have a PhD in theological studies (or an equivalent degree) in hand. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least two years experience in practical theology in a post-secondary context.  Applicants must provide evidence of strong performance in teaching, as well as some pastoral experience. The successful candidate will have experience and understanding of Roman Catholic theological and ministerial settings and can support the mission of the University of St Michael’s College.  Finally, the application dossier must include evidence of excellence in research publications and strong evidence of a sustainable research agenda.
