Faith-based community organizations are often an integral yet overlooked player in the formation of civil societies. They contribute in meaningful ways to the artistic, social, cultural, environmental, political, and economic outcomes of the neighbourhoods where they are situated, but unless they bear conspicuous labels like church, gurdwara, mandir, mosque, synagogue, or temple, they are not always easily identifiable as religious or spiritual centres.  This capstone course will attempt to render those spaces, and the contributions of the people who inhabit them, visible.







PhD in Religion or related subject area, and evidence of engagement with the theory and methods of the study of religion, including anthropology of religion, knowledge of diverse living religious communities and religious practice,  experience with ethnographic techniques, understanding of pluralism, multiculturalism theories, and interfaith engagement among contemporary religious communities, a deep understanding of and connections to diverse religious communities in the City of Toronto and Greater Toronto Area.
Brief Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; goals/outcomes; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
Salary: $4244.75 (includes vacation pay)

Class Schedule: Thursday September 2, Thursday September 9, Tuesday September 14, and Thursday September 22, 2021.
