USMC Welcomes Sara Franca as its new Director of Development

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that Sara Franca 0T1 is joining USMC’s Advancement team on October 10. As Director of Development Sara will play a leadership role in building alumni engagement and increasing philanthropic giving to her alma mater.  In addition to managing a full portfolio of prospective major giving donors, she will collaborate with staff colleagues in annual and leadership giving and alumni advancement to increase leadership and planned giving and engage volunteers in cultivation and stewardship activities.

Sara brings to USMC 16 years of experience in fundraising, communications and alumni programming in the Division of University Advancement (DUA) at the University of Toronto.  For the past three years she has managed DUA’s Alumni Relations and the Regional Advancement portfolio, where she has helped to align and integrate development and alumni engagement initiatives and has grown regional alumni engagement by over 50%.

Sara is currently serving as a member of our Alumni Association. Her passion as a St.Mike’s alumna, her familiarity with our history, her professionalism and her commitment to USMC’s mission and future are among the many personal strengths she brings to her new role. In  announcing this news, DUA colleagues noted “We will miss Sara’s drive, focus, energy and wit, but know that she is leaving DUA for a part of the University that is very important to her personally and professionally.”

I look forward to introducing you to Sara soon after her arrival next month. For now, please join me in congratulating her on this appointment.

Kathryn Elton
Chief Advancement Officer
