Student Art Showcase Opening

Linda Martinello

St. Mike’s Student Art Showcase will feature stunning works from a new generation of artists, centering on the theme of ‘Memory and Place.’ The Showcase will open with a Conversation with Linda Martinello on February 25 at 6 p.m. She is one of the artists featured in the Donovan Collection and her works are installed all around campus, including the Kelly Library, Odette Hall, Brennan Hall, the Historic Houses, and Sorbara Hall.

Linda Martinello is a Canadian visual artist based in rural Caledon, Ontario. Her work explores landscape and place through site-based research, memory, and painting. Martinello holds an MFA from the University of Waterloo and an Honours BA from the University of Toronto, and teaches in the Drawing and Painting program at OCAD University. Her work is included in many prominent private, public, and corporate collections, including BMO Financial Group, TD Bank, and TELUS. She is the recipient of several awards and research grants, including an SSHRC Graduate Research Scholarship and the University of Waterloo President’s Graduate Scholarship. In 2022, a major public art commission for Cadillac Fairview was installed in a downtown Toronto lobby. She is represented by Nicholas Metivier Gallery, Toronto.
