Located on the east side of the University of Toronto’s downtown campus and spanning almost 10 acres, the St. Michael’s College grounds provide a charming neighbourhood to the 550 students who live in our dorms each year. Our residence community consists of both first-year and upper-year students, most of whom are enrolled at SMC in the Faculty of Arts & Science; however, we accept students from the professional faculties who want to be part of our community as well.
St. Mike’s offers a traditional dormitory experience, which means students reside in either single or double rooms, and share washrooms and other common areas with their housemates or floormates. As a general rule, first-year students are expected to have a roommate while upper-year students are assigned to single rooms.
All SMC residents are required to have a meal plan, which provides continuous dining throughout the day and offers unlimited portions (“all you care to eat”). Although our dorms accommodate both men and women, many individual residence ‘houses’ remain single-sex.
You will find a video about life in residence at St. Michael’s here. Eligible students can also apply to live at the Loretto College Residence for Women.
