In-Course Awards Requiring Application*

Patricia Massel Bursary – To be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science at St. Michael’s College with acceptable academic standing and demonstrating financial need. Preference will be given to a student entering their third or fourth year and demonstrating service to the St. Michael’s or broader community. Candidates should outline in a statement of their eligibility for this award, including a description of their volunteer/service contributions they have made in their community or at St. Mike’s. Candidates should also submit a resume and reference letter in support of their application.
Lucia Colavita Memorial Scholarship – A merit-based award made available to an in-course undergraduate student attending St. Michael’s College and registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Preference will be given to a student who intends to pursue a career in special education and has demonstrated philanthropic interests or community service. Applicants must provide a statement that describes in detail why they want to pursue a career in special education in and provide detail of their philanthropic interests and volunteer work. Candidates should also submit a resume.
Peter Brison Award – To be awarded to an undergraduate student, either in full- or part-time study, registered at the University of St. Michael’s College. The student must also exemplify an active interest in Christianity, articulate speech and writing, and personal courage. Applicants must provide a statement that shows their interest in Christianity. This could be active participation in their church, detail of their personal spiritual journey, detail of courses they have taken that lead to their interest, etc. Applicants can also explain in their statement how they developed personal courage by sharing a story or experiences as examples. Resume and reference could also be included.
The Lex Byrd Award – To be awarded to a female undergraduate student and a male undergraduate student registered at the University of St. Michael’s College. The student must be involved in athletics and demonstrate financial need. Applicants should describe in their personal statement their athletic involvement, including university athletics.
Josh Macri Memorial Award – One (1) award of $1,000 will be disbursed annually, to a domestic full-time undergraduate student who is registered at the University of St. Michael’s College in their third year of study while pursuing a degree in Humanities in the University of Toronto. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate positive attitude and willingness to support his/her peers and spirit of dedication to their chosen area of professional study. The award is not based on merit and therefore the student’s GPA shall not be considered in the award selection process. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Applicants should describe in their personal statement how they have demonstrated positive attitude in their life experiences/university years, and how they have supported their peers. They should also explain how they have shown dedication to their chosen area of study in the Humanities. Resume and reference could be included.
Antonietta, Felice, & Roberto Ciasca Scholarship – To provide financial assistance to undergraduate students registered at the University of St. Michael’s College. While the Antonietta, Felice, & Roberto Ciasca Scholarship will be available to students based on the discretion of the awarding body at the University of St. Michael’s College, preference will be given to students whose financial circumstances present a barrier to the pursuit of their university education. Applicants will need to provide a statement of how their financial circumstances present a barrier to being successful at university. Applicants may mention steps they are taking to overcome this barrier, or how this award will impact their university experience.
The Michael J. Walker Student Bursary – Awarded to St. Michael’s College full-time students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in science and are entering their third or fourth year of study. The recipient(s) must demonstrate financial need, are Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or protected persons under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) at the time of the application; and are residents of Ontario at the time of the application. Preference will be given to applicants who are specialist or major in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. Preference will be given to students with a grade point average of at least 3.00. The application requires and statement and resume that demonstrates and explains your volunteer work on campus and/or in the community.
The Thomas Cardinal Collins Scholarship in Student Leadership – Established on Feb 18th 2012 in honour of USMC Chancellor, His Eminence, Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto on the occasion of his elevation to the College of Cardinals. The recipient(s) must demonstrate financial need, are Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or protected persons under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) at the time of the application; and are residents of Ontario at the time of the application. To be awarded to a student registered at St. Michael’s College and has demonstrated outstanding leadership while attending USMC. Applicants should describe in their personal statement their leadership experience. Resume and personal are strongly recommended.
