Launch of “Judith” and formal opening of the John M. Kelly Library’s Multipurpose Room 105
March 9, 2023 @ 6:00 pm
Please join the John M. Kelly Library and the University of St. Michael’s College community on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, at 6 p.m. for an evening lecture and reception as we celebrate two important milestones: the book launch of Judith, the newest Kelly Library Print Studio publication and to formally open the library’s new multipurpose space, generously supported by the Friends of the Kelly Library.
Judith is a limited-edition hand-sewn letterpress chapbook containing an excerpt of JUDITH: An Old English Epic Fragment by Albert S. Cook, 1888, selected, edited, and adapted by Sheril Hook, Dr. Alison More, and Dr. Iris J. Gildea.
This event will begin at 6pm with opening remarks and a talk hosted by editors Iris Gildea, Sheril Hook, and Alison More. Judith and Feminism: Contemporary Reflections will address the place of feminism in the story of Judith and its modern-day links in the context of the #MeToo movement.
Space for the talk is limited. An open reception hosted by the Friends of the Kelly Library will follow in the library at 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP separately for the lecture and reception by March 3, 2023.
Copies of Judith can be pre-ordered here. Judith is available in a numbered edition of 52 copies signed by the editors.
