Jack Talk @ SMC

October 10, 2023 @ 5:15 pm 7:00 pm EDT

To kickstart Wellness Week, mark World Mental Health Day by engaging in a conversation with peer mental health advocates called a ‘Jack Talk.’ The Talk will equip you with mental health basics (what is mental health and social determinants of health?) and tools for supporting yourself and others in locating University and community resources. Jack Talks strive to normalize mental health conversations and help-seeking.

On Tuesday, October 10th at 5:15pm in the COOP, join Jack.org and SMC peers for a presentation on ‘Mental Health 101,’ featuring powerful personal narratives of living with mental health challenges and navigating supports. Jack.org is a charitable organization that empowers young adults to destigmatize and revolutionize mental health education and awareness through dialogue and action. The presentation will feature opportunity for guided group discussion about mental health and wellbeing, as well as group activities, quizzes, and quiet reflection.

A dinner (open to all students) will follow the presentation to keep the conversation going within a community of peers!

Mental health matters. Use World Mental Health Day as an invitation to talk about and expand your mental health knowledge.
