National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

September 30, 2021

September 30 marks the first official National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, on the same day that Orange Shirt Day is marked as a commemorative event. As part of our commitment to reconciliation, the University of St. Michael’s College encourages all students, staff and faculty to take time on this day to reflect on the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools.

From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be a facilitated discussion on Indigenous Education, led by Desmond Wong, Outreach Librarian at the OISE library. Participants will be discussing the 2017 Alanis Obomsawin film Our People will be Healed. For more information and to register, please visit the event page.

Whether you are working or going to school online or in-person, wear your orange shirt on September 30 to show your solidarity with Indigenous people.

We will share more resources as we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
