SMC Troubadours Present: Spring Awakening

This show follows the hardships and joys of a group of teenagers in late 19th century Germany. The sheltered but curious Wendla finds herself drawn to her intelligent, rebellious childhood friend, Melchior, who offers answers to her questions about the world of adult relationships. Meanwhile, Moritz, Melchior’s anxious best friend, is tormented by his own imagination and by his failure to live up to the expectations of parents and teachers alike. They and their peers set out on a coming-of-age journey that is at turns tragic and beautiful, set to a rock score that bridges the gap between the characters and the youth of today.
