Film Discussion: “Our People will be Healed”

September 30, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

September 30th marks the first official National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, on the same day that Orange Shirt Day is marked as a commemorative event. To mark this day, there will be a facilitated discussion on Indigenous Education. This will be led by Desmond Wong, Outreach Librarian at the OISE library, and we will be discussing the 2017 Alanis Obomsawin film Our People will be Healed.

If you wish to join us, please watch this film ahead of time. It is available through UTL’s NFB Campus subscription. We will also be observing a moment of silence in commemoration of Residential School Survivors and the now over 7000 Indigenous children who did not make it home.

Please join us if you have capacity to do so and we ask that all who join us contribute to the maintenance of a commemorative and respectful dialogue.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Desmond Wong at de.wong@utoronto.ca
