Re-thinking the Scottish witch-hunt

March 18 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm EDT

“Re-thinking the Scottish witch-hunt” with Dr. Stuart MacDonald, Professor of Church and Society, Knox College, University of Toronto, on March 18 from 6pm to 8pm in Charbonnel lounge.

We all have heard about the witch-hunt that happened in Scotland. Torture. The Demonic Pact and the link to medieval demonology. Intense hunts in local communities. The picture is clear. Or is it? Over the last three decades scholars studying witchcraft allegations in Scotland have challenged our common assumptions. Is it time to re-think how we understand the Scottish witch-hunt?
