St. Mike’s and Emmanuel College are sponsoring a Sacred Music Workshop facilitated by Kate Williams, composer and Vice President of Sacred Music at GIA Publications. All liturgical musicians — church music directors, cantors, choristers, organists, instrumentalists students — and all who are involved or interested in church music ministry are invited to attend this free event, which will be an opportunity for shared singing, discussion and learning. Music will be provided.

New this year, the first session of the day will feature a Hymn Writing Workshop, offering a chance for composers and hymn writers, whether aspiring or seasoned, to submit a newly composed hymn (text alone or text and tune together) and receive feedback and insight into the creative process in a workshop setting. Please see the registration page for more details (N.B. deadline for submission of materials is October 31). The afternoon session will feature a choral reading session, introducing new sacred choral repertoire from GIA.

While there is no cost to attend, registration is required.
