Course description: This course investigates the transformation of the land and its people in the course of the 20th century. Themes include changes in industry, agriculture, and the broader economy; the efforts of successive governments to influence the trajectory and shape of the country; the overall impact of the world wars; party politics and the rise of nationalism; and the evolution of Scottish society and culture in specific and general terms.

    Evidence of established expertise in the field of Lowland Scots Language and Literature is essential. University-level teaching experience in this field, with evidence of successful teaching, is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
