Course description: This course investigates the ways in which the Second World War shaped Scotland and the Scots. Themes include: evolving popular responses to the conflict in Scotland; the role of Scottish formations and units in battle; geographic factors in relation to war policies; the impact of the war on Scottish industry, agriculture, and demography; Scottish women and the war effort; and the effect of the struggle on Scottish culture, politics, and identity.
