New Requirements for the Book and Media Studies Program

Updates to the Book and Media Studies Program

As of September 2021, the Book and Media Studies Program will offer three new required Foundational Courses: BMS100H1, BMS200Y1 and BMS201H1. These new courses will provide you with a strong foundation in the BMS Program, joining both the “Book” and “Media” sides of your program.

The following courses will no longer be offered: SMC219Y1, SMC228H1 and SMC229H1.

If you would still like to take those courses you can. The information in SMC219Y1 is included and expanded in the combination of BMS100H1 and BMS200Y1. Material from SMC228H1 and SMC229H1 has been moved to two third-year courses, BMS331H1: The History of the Book and BMS332H1: The History of Reading.
