Course description: This course will examine the representation of women in the New Testament, with close readings of the primary texts within their historical contexts. It will also examine how some New Testament texts pertaining to women have been interpreted historically to stereotype and subjugate women and how some important female figures have not traditionally received the attention they deserve. Contemporary reinterpretations through historical, theological, artistic and feminist lenses will be discussed.

    PhD and evidence of established, up-to-date research expertise in the field of the program is essential. University-level teaching experience in this field, with evidence of successful teaching, is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
