Reporting to the Manager, Housekeeping Services, the position is responsible for assuring quality housekeeping services to all campus buildings as assigned, maintaining college standards of cleanliness, and undertaking duties in a professional and courteous manner.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning furniture (eg. dusting and polishing)
- Cleaning floors (eg. mopping, sweeping and vacuuming)
- Cleaning of buildings, offices, classrooms, residence rooms
- Making and changing of residence beds and cleaning of residence rooms
- Clean and change window
- Change light bulbs as
- Clean washrooms including toilets, urinals, showers, lavatories, mirrors, floors, and
- Collection and discarding of garbage and
- Washing of windows and walls
- May be required to move light furniture within
- Use of laundry machine
- Mopping up spills, preventing slips and falls (proper signage and markers for wet floors)
- Reporting on hazards in the environment, securing boxes or other trip hazards
- Proper use and ventilation of chemical cleaners
- Maintenance and prevention for pests, water damage and other risks to ensure the campus is clean and well
- Conduct daily visual check on the general state of the buildings and report on any issues that may come up.
- Also leads to unsanitary conditions and possible injury to staff and/or students
- Ensure their equipment is in operating order and/or arrange repairs
- Sharing and updating information on the status of different buildings
- Receive instructions from lead/manager as needed
- Respond to complaints about spills and/or potential hazards
- Collaborate with team in order to complete daily tasks
- Provides input regarding security instances when witnessed (occurs occasionally)
- Analyze/assess emergency situations as they arise (eg. flooding in the basement)
- Completing inventory checklists and work order forms
- Preparing incident reports as needed
- May provide orientation to new employees on use of equipment and job tasks
- Sharing basic information with public and/or managers on daily basis
- Perform other job related duties as assigned Experience & Qualifications
- At least 2 years of previous experience with cleaning techniques particularly in a professional setting required
- Physically capable of operating cleaning equipment without restriction
- Safety training including use of personal protective equipment, health and safety, chemical interactions and safe lifting techniques
- Familiarity with USMC campus and Loretto College campus preferred
- Precision required for equipment repair/maintenance and sewing
Education
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and
- Satisfactory command of the English language is necessary to communicate with staff, visitors, students, faculty and co-workers.
