    The renewal and expansion of the Continuing Education Division of the University of St. Michael’s College (USMC) began in the fall of 2023 and is continuing to build momentum. Building on the strong historical foundations of Continuing Education at St. Michael’s College, the Division is re-establishing the organizational structure supported by a small staff in order to strengthen existing programs and to develop and deliver new programs aligned with the strategic plan and mission of the university to meet the contemporary career progression needs and general interests of students, alumni, the Catholic education community and the broader community.

     

    The renewal and expansion of Continuing Education is an exciting venture for the university and an opportunity both to develop new and innovative programs and to strengthen our relationships with the community, alumni, and our partners.

    We currently offer two professional programs: an Advanced Diploma in Social Responsibility & Sustainability and a Diploma in Interfaith Dialogue.

     

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Director of Continuing Education and working closely with the Continuing Education Executive Assistant, the Manager of Program Development and Delivery brings knowledge and expertise in continuing education, adult education, curriculum design and program development/redevelopment to design non-credit programs and courses that extend the teaching and research expertise of the University to the community, align with labour market demands as well as general interest community learning courses for a broad audience including students, alumni and the boarder community.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Program Development

    • Stay apprised of labour market trends and identify and analyze data from a variety of sources to make informed recommendations on new professional program opportunities and audiences.
    • Identify and convene advisory groups for new program development.
    • Develop proposals that make a strong business case for new programs and modifications to existing programs.
    • Engage and supervise contract staff to develop new programs and courses in Continuing Education.
    • Ensure that Continuing Education programs meet the needs of continuous learners through flexible and accessible delivery modes.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with multiple internal and external partners internally the CE program area offers current, relevant and innovative programs. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid work environment (combining in-person/on-campus and remote work).
    • Plan, monitor and track new course and program development projects and work cross-functionally with other University departments to ensure on time delivery and launch.
    • Develop partnerships with USMC partners to co-create professional learning programs and courses.
    • Develop program and course budgets and enrollment projections.

    Program Delivery

    • Manage day-to-day portfolio activities to ensure efficient and effective operations of course delivery for learners, teaching and administrative staff including program logistics, quality assurance and marketing.
    • Recruit, mentor and supervise Continuing Education program coordinators and instructors.
    • Develop a Continuing Education calendar in collaboration with other divisions at USMC.

     

    Program Review

    • Oversee cyclical program and curriculum evaluation and renewal processes to ensure currency with labour market needs and student expectations.
    • Review of Continuing Education programs and alignment with USMC Strategic Priorities.
    • Develop and implement formative and summative evaluations aligned with USMC strategic priorities to support continuous improvement.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Masters degree in a relevant field (such as adult education or business) is preferred.
    • Certificate, Diploma or other certification/qualification related to adult or online education is an asset.
    • A relevant bachelor’s degree (such as adult education or business) combined with a Certificate, Diploma, or other certification/qualification related to adult or online education is acceptable.

     

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 or more years experience in a Continuing Education division or department.
    • Experience in e-learning, curriculum development, instructional design, adult education, business development, business administration and market research.
    • Experience supervising external contact staff.
    • Experience in business development, recruitment and budget development.
    • Adept at building business relationships with potential and existing corporate clients.
    • Familiarity with the university environment and administration of academic programs.
    • Effective organizational skills and sound judgment.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong capacity for relationship building and engagement of partners and interested parties.
