The chief duty of instructors at the Writing Centre is to counsel students individually and in small groups on university writing, especially on organization, reasoning, style, and language use. Instructors can expect to see students with writing assignments from a variety of disciplines. Instructors may also be asked to deliver group instruction on general writing skills or in the context of specific College program courses. The exact duties and schedule will be worked out in consultation with the supervisor of the Writing Centre. This position includes four hours of professional development training (details to be determined).
Assist undergraduate students, providing help on a drop-in basis. Maintain some familiarity with the current assignments in key courses. The TA should be familiar with first-year (CSC108, 148, and 165), theory courses (primarily 236, 263), programming courses (primarily 209). Other related duties as required.
Teach the course based on syllabus and assignment guidelines provided by the program, mark assignments and tests in a timely fashion, hold one office hour per week. Follow College and University code of conduct and policies.

A Gilson Seminar Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to pursue activities in three broad categories:
1) The successful applicant will advance research activities related to the proposal submitted as part of this application; the successful applicant will receive funds to support these activities (40%);
2) Contributions in and beyond the classroom to the 2022-2023 edition the Gilson Seminar in Faith and Ideas and the Gilson Seminar in Faith and Rome, and related service to the Gilson Seminar with a specific focus on curricular development, recruitment, and on community and culture building; these contributions include a Teaching Assistant component (40%);
3) Service to the broader University of St. Michael's College community through participation in the life of the College (20%).
