- Monday–Friday:
- Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
- Cold Breakfast: 9:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Dinner 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
- Dinner on Friday will end at 8:30 p.m.
- Weekends and Holidays:
- Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Dinner 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Yes! We offer commuter packages for students interested in a meal plan. The rates are listed below:
- 10 meals: $110.00
- 25 meals: $272.00 + HST
- 50 meals: $533.00 + HST
- 80 meals: $838.00 + HST
You can purchase a commuter meal plan by seeing a cashier in the Canada Room or online
Meal plans can be upgraded from 5-Day to 7-Day at any point in the school year.
The last day to downgrade your meal plan is September 30th.
To request a change, contact smc.residence@utoronto.ca with your request and student number.
Residence Fees/Important Dates
Please consult the links below for information regarding residence and meal plan costs, payment deadlines and deferrals, and how to pay:
SMC (fees, how to pay, deadlines and deferrals for both SMC and Loretto)
Residence will be closed during the Winter Break, from December 23, 2024 at 11:30am until January 5, 2025 at 10:00am. You may keep all your belongings in your room, but you will not have access to them between those dates.
For upper-year returners, 24-25 applications open February 15th at 12:00pm
For first-year students, confirm your interest in residence on StarRez by 11:59pm EST on March 31 using your JOINid/UTORid.
Please consult our occupancy agreement where we outline the withdrawal schedule. Please note that after December 1st, students are not eligible for a refund.
Residence Services and Facilities
The SMC mailroom and parcel lockers are located on the ground floor of Elmsley Hall in the South foyer. When a letter or parcel arrives for you, the mailroom will send an email notification to your university email address telling you when you can pick it up.
The Loretto Porter’s Desk doubles as the mail desk. All Loretto residents are assigned their own mailbox on move-in day. Please check it frequently as you will not receive email notification when a package has arrived.
Visit your Porter’s desk! A reminder there is a $20 replacement card fee for lost cards ($50 if you lose a metal key).
SMC has a modest supply of mini fridges that we rent to our residents at a rate of $85 for the academic year. To request a fridge, please go to Manage my Housing and navigate to the fridge request page
Please note that personal mini fridges are permitted in residence (excluding Loretto), though we ask that they be no larger than 3.3 cubic feet.

Yes, visiting hours are Sunday through Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.*
*Loretto students are required to sign-in all guests.
Students are permitted to have overnight guests of any gender at St. Michael’s College. Guests may stay for a maximum of two (2) consecutive nights, and a total of 10 nights per academic semester.
Note: Male-identifying overnight guests are not permitted at Loretto residence.
The machine to add money to your laundry card can be found in the south foyer of Elmsley Hall, Queen’s Park, Sorbara Hall and Loretto lower level. They accept credit and debit cards. If you lose your laundry card, email smc.residence@utoronto.ca to request a replacement.
